KISS wanted the best and they got the best — The No. 13s. I shot these guys at Grand Central in Miami, Florida the night before they set sail to perform on the KISS Kruise II. The legendary face painters were not in the house, but that was fine with me. I’m a big fan of The No. 13s and didn’t want anyone stealing the limelight from these gods of thunder. Pagan Raygun, Sleepy Pie Jones, Dam Keller and Stephen Rose belted out a high-intensity set filled with hard rockin’ and punk-influenced songs. I’ve seen them many times and these talented musicians are always on top of their game. Normally, I photograph this band on stages in venues with all the illuminating brightness of a flickering candle. It was nice to see The No. 13s in a whole new light.
