Great rock concerts. That’s what the summer is all about — and the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival certainly quenched the thirst of the fans in attendance at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan. Local band Rotation began the day with a hard-roccking set on the Coldcock Herbal Whiskey Stage. These guys had tons of energy and got the crowd all revved up. Teen rockers Bulletproof Snow followed with a grungy metal performance on the Zippo Encore Festival Stage. These 16 year olds bested more than 1,000 other bands in the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands to earn their shot at the big time. Middle Class Rut, Charming Liars and Mindset Evolution alternated stages while trading guitar licks, drum fills and a wide variety of vocals ranges. Danko Jones then lit up the Zippo Encore Festival Stage with a scorching performance filled with plenty of sexual lyrics. The Dead Daisies closed out the Coldcock Herbal Whiskey stage with a tight set of straight up rock -n- roll. Walking Papers played the final show on the second and third stages. This band featured legendary bass player Duff McKagan and some of Seattle’s finest musicians. It was a fitting end to a great day of live music photography.
