Incubus Concert — Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre

Incubus swept into West Palm Beach, Florida under the dark of night to engage in musical activity with adoring fans at Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre on the 11th date of their North American summer tour.

The quintet from Calabasas, California opened with their 2001 hit “Nice to Know You” from the album Morning View. The band followed with classics “Anna Molly” and “Circles.” With the crowd well steeped in a festive mood, Incubus played “Absolution Calling,” a track from the band’s brand new EP Trust Fall (Side A). The next song was “Are You In?” Based on the fact that the concert was almost completely sold out, it was clear that the audience was fully embracing the Incubus concert.

Founding member Brandon Boyd oozed charisma and fronted Incubus with undeniable enthusiasm. Whether he sang, danced, played percussion, took his shirt off for the ladies or donned a demonic mask, he held the crowd in the palm of his hand the entire night. He has been singing since his days in high school and his remains sharp and clear with the perfect pitch to rock.

Guitarist Mike Einziger and drummer Jose Pasillas have also been with Incubus since the band first started playing back in 1991. Concertgoers who might have been just casual fans of the band had little trouble calling out the songs when Mike Einziger started playing the riffs and chords that helped propel the band into superstardom. Jose Pasillas pounded out infectious grooves from behind a sea of shining drums and kept the mood of the show upbeat. Chris Kilmore hit the keys and worked the turntables while bassist Ben Kenney made sure the rhythm section laid down solid foundation.

The Incubus concert was a great mix of old tunes and new, with every member of the band working in synch to put on one of the best shows of summer.

The guys are currently on the road taking the lead on co-headlining tour dates with Deftones. The last time the two bands toured together in 2000 when Deftones brought along Incubus as support.
